Measurements: 32 x 25 cm.

Drawing made by Joan Miró in 1953 and dedicated to the French poet Pierre Reverdy, key figure of the avant-garde literature and close to the artistic circles of cubism and surrealism. The work presents a composition of great formal economy, constructed by means of fine orange lines on the light background of the paper.

The graphic language responds fully to the Miró universe: astral signs, biomorphic forms, ascending lines and schematic structures that seem to float in space. The apparent simplicity of the line encloses a great poetic freedom, where each element functions as an autonomous sign within an open and balanced composition.

The handwritten dedication "pour Reverdy amicalement Miró", together with the date and the reference to the poet, gives the piece a special documentary and affective value. More than a preparatory or strictly descriptive drawing, the work is presented as an artistic and personal gesture, linked to the dialogue between poetry and painting that occupied a central place in the avant-garde movements of the 20th century.

Joan Miró was trained in Barcelona and made his debut in 1918 at the Dalmau Galleries. In 1920 he moved to Paris, where he came into contact with the avant-garde and developed his own language influenced by surrealism. His international recognition was soon consolidated: in 1928 the MoMA acquired his works and in 1941 dedicated a great retrospective to him.

Throughout his career he received important distinctions and his work was widely disseminated in Europe and the United States. He is currently represented in institutions such as the Joan Miró Foundation (Barcelona), the MoMA (New York), the Reina Sofía Museum (Madrid), the National Gallery of Art (Washington) and the Centre Pompidou (Paris), among others.
