DESCRIPTION
Pair of lamps. France, ca. 1960.
Bamboo frame. Original fabric shade woven into the bamboo weave.
Measurements: 40 x 16 x 16 cm.
A pair of French lamps from around 1960, a magnificent example of the appreciation for natural materials and craftsmanship that defined much of postwar European design. Their cylindrical bamboo frame, crafted using delicate plant weaving, envelops the original fabric shade, filtering the light with a warm amber hue that creates an intimate and cozy atmosphere. The curved legs and handcrafted latticework lend a distinct sculptural character, evoking the exotic and organic aesthetic that was all the rage in interiors of the 1950s and 1960s. Elegant whether lit or unlit, these lamps form a decorative ensemble with great character, ideal for Mid-Century, tropical, or contemporary settings where the beauty of natural materials and handcrafted design is valued.
