In this work, the painter presents us with a sweeping landscape viewed from a high vantage point, allowing us to see a vast expanse in great detail. In the foreground, we see several ordinary figures gazing at the same scene as we do, serving as our guides in the Romantic tradition. Further in the distance, the tones become almost transparent, radiating great luminosity; they are delicate and rendered with a refined color palette.
