De Coene Frères was one of the leading European manufacturers of Art Deco furniture during the 1920s and 1930s. In the 1950s and 1960s, the company moved towards a more contemporary style (such as the table in question) and began working with renowned designers such as Alfred Hendrickx and Jules Wabbes. In addition to producing furniture, De Coene Frères also worked on numerous architectural projects, especially in Brussels (Palace of Justice or the Brussels National Airport). The table in tender is characterized by the perfect balance between form and function, elegance and rationality.
