DESCRIPTION

PASCAL MOURGUE (France, 1943) for Scarabat
Postmodern table Model "Seqüences", 1986
Carrara marble top.
Steel structure.
Won a SIDI award in 1987.
Measurements: 140 x 36 x 50 cm.

Captivating table designed by Pascal Mourgue, of great evocative and sculptural strength. It is composed of a steel structure, light and casual in appearance, on whose grill rests a sheet of Carrara marble in the shape of a fish, although resolved in a synthetic way, evoking a fish-stripe. This French creator is remembered for his futuristic and innovative designs. The metal base evokes a simple yet refined industrial aesthetic, which collides visually and conceptually with the marble sculpture, giving the whole a great personality.

Pascal Mourgue studied sculpture at the Ecole Boulle, and later graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. He began designing furniture in 1962, always prioritizing artistic integrity over commercial success. This love of art has led him to work in fields as diverse as sailboat design for Cartier, ornamental glass objects for Baccarat, architecture, painting and sculpture. It was not until the 1980s that he finally focused his career on home furnishings.
