Jasper Morrison trained at the Royal College of Art in London, and later extended his studies at the Berlin School of Art thanks to a scholarship. After completing his training, he opened his own design studio in London in 1986. Morrison will attract attention for the clarity of concepts of the installations "Reuters News Center" (Documenta 8 in Kassel) and "Some new items for the home" (DAAD gallery in Berlin), characterized by markedly simplified objects in the formal, as a response to the formal overflow of postmodernism. With his proposals, he became the precursor of the "New Simplicity", a trend that advocates a humble and at the same time more serious interpretation of design. In addition to furniture, Morrison designs lamps, home accessories and textiles, as well as a streetcar for the city of Hannover and the bus station on the Vitra campus in Weil am Rhein. Together with Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec and Hella Jongerius, Morrison is one of the main architects of Vitra Home, a constantly growing collection.
