Imposing pendant lamp, designed by Carlo Nason for the prestigious firm Mazzega, Murano, Italy, circa 1970. This exceptional piece dialogues with the Venetian glass tradition while embodying the artistic sensibility of the Italian modern movement.

Made of hand-blown Murano glass, the lampshade (one-piece and generously proportioned) presents a slightly irregular silhouette, evocative of a lace cloth. The surface of the glass exhibits an organic texture, of soft folds and undulations, which capture and refract light with warm hues, enriched by subtle bronze shades incorporated into the vitreous mass during blowing. The suspension is completed with polished brass fittings, solid and elegant, which reinforce the timeless character of the piece.

Carlo Nason comes from a family with a long tradition in the art of glass, historically linked to the Nason & C. workshop. Unlike his predecessors, Nason introduced a more experimental and avant-garde vision to lighting design, incorporating new forms, blowing techniques and aesthetic languages. During his collaboration with Mazzega in the 1960s and 1970s, he created some of the most innovative pieces in the firm's catalog, helping to position it internationally. His work is characterized by formal exploration, mastery of the blown glass technique and a sculptural sensibility that transcends the utilitarian.
