BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
GIUSTO TOSO (Murano, 1939) for Leucos.
Set of 3 wall sconces Model "Panta". Italy, 1970's.
Murano glass.
Excellent state of preservation, no breaks or restorations.
Measurements: 15 x 40 x 40 cm. diameter.
Set of three wall or ceiling sconces in translucent Murano blown glass with opal blue patina, designed by Giusto Toso for the publisher Leucos. With its translucent disc shape, it radiates in gradient waves and casts attractive reflections on the wall. In its refined and futuristic aesthetics, it retains certain echoes of the space age style.
Born in Murano, designer Giusto Toso continued the local tradition by working in his father's glassworks, "Fratelli Orso". He was the first to create a series of modular elements with a self-supporting glass system that illuminated large spaces in Europe, the United States and Japan. Giusto Toso has always been interested in finding new materials and techniques for working glass. Currently his work is preserved in the Corning Museum in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and some of his lamps are also exhibited at the Pompidou Centre in Paris.
Classic style and contemporary spirit, two concepts that define the collections of the Italian firm Leucos. Classical tradition as a source of inspiration, as well as attention to new trends to give value to innovation are perfectly combined in exclusive Italian design pieces of great elegance and sophistication.
