Set of three stackable side tables, Medusa model, designed by Jaume Torras for Scarabat in the 1980s. Executed with refined mastery in solid cherry wood, these nesting tables stand out for their sober functionality and an aesthetic of clean and warm lines. The harmonious proportions allow for a staggered or unitary arrangement, responding with versatility to the principles of modular design. The evocation of the sinuous legs of a jellyfish and the subtle play of volumes produced by stacking the pieces, gives the set a sculptural and serene presence, evoking a balance between form and utility.
Jaume Torras, a Catalan designer trained in architecture and closely linked to the movement of aesthetic renewal of Barcelona design in the last decades of the twentieth century, is characterized by a work that combines functionality, noble materials and respect for traditional craftsmanship.
Scarabat defines itself as "a publisher of contemporary design furniture for the home and collectivities". It specializes in the subtle work of solid wood with the collaboration of its own and independent designers. It uses beech, cherry, glass and metal. Among its designers are renowned names such as Estudi Blanc, Ferran Grañana, Jaume Torras, Juan Alcón, Martín Ryan, Oriol Blanc, Paco Camus, Pascal Mourgue, Rambla Branch, Ramón Isern and Global Estudi Disseny.
