Desk model 530 designed by Gianfranco Frattini and edited by Bernini in 1957. Made of fine rosewood, it stands out for the expressiveness and continuity of its grain, especially visible on the wide top surface. The structure rises on a central inverted Y-shaped foot with a flat base, giving the unit balance, stability and a remarkable visual lightness.
The design features two levels of storage: the waist of the table has two side drawers and a central open space, while the top incorporates a container with a sliding shutter that slides smoothly along the grain of the rosewood. This element conceals a compartmentalized interior with shelves and small drawers, designed to facilitate work organization.
The combination of functionality, aesthetic refinement and use of noble materials makes model 530 one of the most representative pieces of Italian office furniture of the mid-20th century.
An architect by training, Gianfranco Frattini was one of the key figures of post-war Italian design. A disciple and collaborator of Gio Ponti, in 1956 he co-founded the ADI (Associazione per il Disegno Industriale). Throughout his career he worked with Cassina, Acerbis and Bernini, designed emblematic luminaires for Artemide and collaborated with international firms such as Knoll. His work is characterized by rationalist elegance, attention to constructive detail and masterful use of fine woods, qualities clearly recognizable in this desk.
