BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
XAVIER LUST (Bruges, 1969) for MDF.
Bench "Le Banc", Italy, 2000.
Aluminium.
Measurements: 170 x 40 x 44 cm.
"Le banc" is made from a single 6 mm thick aluminum sheet, subjected to a precise bending process. This technical operation gives the bench its characteristic formal continuity, free of visible joints, which reinforces its appearance of a monolithic object.
Xavier Lust, born in 1969, trained in interior architecture at the Institut Saint-Luc before setting up his own workshop in Brussels. In 2000, he began a collaboration with the firm MDF Italia, a link that has been maintained over the years and opened the door to projects with renowned brands such as Driade, De Padova, Cerruti Baleri, Fiam and Extremis. His production is distinguished by the use of metal surfaces modeled through an innovative deformation process, resulting in dynamic pieces in which the curve and formal tension become protagonists.
The designer has received numerous awards, including the famous Compasso d'Oro, and his work has been featured in more than fifty international exhibitions. In addition, his name appears regularly in specialized design publications. Lust is also frequently involved in academia, giving lectures and seminars in different countries. Russian critic Olga Bozhko has noted that "Xavier's work conveys an illusion of movement and lightness, as if defying the laws of physics; rather than manufactured, his creations seem to emerge organically".
