DESCRIPTION
Pair of sconces "Arum"; MAISON LUNEL; France, 1950s.
Lacquered brass.
Electrified.
Measurements: 48 x 18 x 6 cm (x2).
These wall sconces, designed and produced in France during the 1950s by the famous Maison Lunel, are a refined example of the elegance and modernity of post-war design. Made of lacquered brass, they stand out for the subtlety of their lines and the harmony between functionality and decorative value, characteristic principles of mid-20th century French aesthetics.
Each wall lamp is composed of a bundle of dark, sinuous metallic stems that emerge from a circular point at the base, wrapped with a brass ring and cord that acts as an element of union and visual reinforcement. At their ends, the stems culminate in delicate conical screens of golden brass, suggesting the stylized form of vegetal corollas. The interplay between the organic curve of the arms and the refined geometry of the cones establishes a balance between the natural and the rational, typical of the modern language of the time.
