Pair of side tables "Reno", 1961.
Solid ukola wood and top with black laminate center.
Very good condition, the wood has been restored.
Measurements: 47 x 90 x 90 cm.
Pair of Reno coffee or side tables, an iconic model designed in 1961 by Spanish architects Federico Correa and Alfonso Milá for the Reno restaurant in Barcelona and produced by Gres. The tables, in solid ukola wood, have a circular base on which a single cylindrical leg supports a cylindrical structure. The piece ends in a circular tabletop, with its center laminated in black. This is a refined and essentialist design, with a delicate aesthetic.
The tandem of Catalan architects Federico Correa and Alfonso Milá, both born in 1924, were one of the most outstanding references of the Modern Movement in the second half of the 20th century. Correa and Milá followed the slogan that interior and industrial design were part of the same architectural project. Collaborators of José Antonio Coderch, they founded their own studio in 1953. They designed summer houses in Cadaqués, institutional and residential buildings, sports stadiums, factories and offices, interior design for the legendary restaurants FlashFlash and Il Giardinetto, and they designed iconic pieces for their own projects and for furniture companies such as Gres.
