DESCRIPTION
Pair of Lumica wall sconces, 70s.
Made of polished golden brass, they present an architectural composition of staggered vertical prisms, from which hang faceted crystals that provide a sophisticated play of reflections and transparencies.
The structure and balance between the metallic geometry and the purity of the glass make these pieces an excellent example of modern Spanish design of the 1970s, in which functionality and ornamentation merge with great mastery.
One has some rust stains on the brass.
Measurements: 55 x 30 x 16 cm.
Founded in Barcelona in the 1970s, BD Lumica was one of the pioneering firms of contemporary lighting design in Spain. It was born in the creative environment of BD Barcelona Design, sharing with it the avant-garde spirit and the search for excellence in craftsmanship and materials.
Its lamps combined the geometric and architectural design typical of late modernism with a careful selection of noble materials -mainly brass, steel and handcrafted glass-, achieving pieces that became symbols of discreet luxury and Mediterranean modernity.
Today, BD Lumica's creations are considered icons of Spanish design from the mid and late 20th century, highly appreciated in the collector's market and vintage decoration for their constructive quality, timeless elegance and scarcity in today's market.
