DESCRIPTION
FRITZ NETH (Stuttgart, Germany, 1932- Tübingen, 2004) for Correcta.
Pair of chairs "Egg chairs". Germany. Design ca.1950.
Bouclé upholstery. Chrome-plated metal legs.
Recently reupholstered.
Measurements: 72 x 80 x 69 cm; 40 cm (seat height).
Pair of German armchairs designed by Fritz Neth and produced by Correcta in the 1950's. They stand on bambi legs, very characteristic of the mid century design. The ergonomic seat, with rounded shapes (more precisely, ovoid), adapts to the user's body. A meaningful dialogue is established between the cold rigidity of the support and the warm fluidity of the seat. Craftsmanship and art, comfort and originality, quality and function come together in this design. A star piece of German space-age design.
Neth was a German furniture designer, born in 1932, best known for his work with the design firm Correcta. Neth was part of a generation of designers who helped shape the modernist movement in postwar Germany. His designs were characterized by clean lines, attention to detail and a focus on the user experience. He believed in creating furniture that was not only aesthetically pleasing, but also practical and durable.
