This extraordinary rosewood chest of drawers is a unique piece both for its design and its craftsmanship. It is made up of eleven superimposed drawers, which when closed form a homogeneous vertical pilaster, with clean and minimalist lines. The rosewood grain, marked, elegant and continuous, visually unifies the whole and underlines its sculptural presence.
Each drawer incorporates an excavated handle, a circular hole to insert the fingers instead of a traditional knob, a detail that accentuates the formal purity of the furniture and the quality of the joinery work.
The real surprise comes when the drawers are opened and moved: each of them allows a slight lateral deviation, so that the piece can be transformed into a dynamic, almost kinetic structure. Depending on how the drawers are oriented (some to one side, others to the other, in a staggered fashion) the drawer unit can adopt a helical twist, creating a rich, playful, baroque spiral aesthetic, in stark contrast to its initial minimalist appearance.
This duality, from geometric sobriety to sculptural gesture, makes the drawer unit an exceptional piece, functional and at the same time surprisingly expressive, where the beautiful rosewood grain adds the final layer of sophistication.
