DESCRIPTION
Desk-secreter, ca. 1980.
In rosewood.
Unique piece made by a cabinetmaker.

Measurements: 80 × 40 × 115 cm.
This unique writing desk combines quality craftsmanship, surprising functionality and a marked sculptural character. Built in solid rosewood, with its unmistakable dark, continuous and very expressive grain, it appears, when closed, as a voluminous geometric composition: two rectangular pillars or blocks support an equally rectilinear upper body, creating an almost dolmen-like, sober and monumental silhouette. The continuity of the grain on the front and side surfaces reinforces its elegant and architectural presence.
When opened, the cabinet reveals its inner complexity and the finesse of the cabinetmaking. The lower "pilasters" actually function as double drawers, joined on each side by a common vertical slat. Above this base emerges the sliding desk, which pulls out smoothly and provides a comfortable, proportioned work surface.
Two additional levels are arranged on the top: a first register with niches and shelves, for organizing correspondence, accessories or office supplies; and an upper level with drawers of different sizes, which multiply the storage possibilities.
The interior plays with light woods, which provide luminosity and contrast with the exterior of rosewood with a marked grain. Each opening, each compartment and each joint reveals the constructive care and ingenuity of the design.
All in all, this is a desk from the 1980s, versatile, elegant and made with top-quality materials. A unique piece that combines aesthetic presence and exceptional functionality.
