DESCRIPTION
Pair of brutalist chairs; Spain, c. 1960.
Beech wood.
One of the chairs has a slight loss on the back.
Measurements: 96 x 42 x 35 cm (x2).
Pair of three-legged chairs carved in beech wood. They have a design based on geometry.
In the 1960s, Brutalism left a notable mark on Spanish furniture design, aligning itself with the architectural and cultural modernization of the country. This influence manifested itself in furniture with emphatic lines, solid volumes and an honest aesthetic that left the raw materials in full view. Solid wood, iron and, to a lesser extent, concrete were used with raw or minimally treated finishes, highlighting natural textures and an almost sculptural character.
