Rosewood. Sliding doors painted in white and ochre.
Central section with seven drawers with curved handles. Bar section with hinged front, interior covered with black formica. Back completely veneered in rosewood.
Restored. The back presents the repair of a hole probably made to introduce wiring.
Measurements: 80 x 250 x 47 cm.

Danish design sideboard from the 50's, faithful representative of the midcentury aesthetics. It is a totally identifiable work of Arne Vodder, characterized by the use of a quality wood, whose grains participate in the beauty of the design. The furniture has a light yet solid structure, characteristic of Scandinavian design of the period. The handles of the sliding doors and drawers are integrated into the design, with their flowing, harmonious lines.

Architect and industrial designer, Arne Vodder is now among the mid-century Scandinavian designers who have most influenced subsequent generations. He trained with the famous designer Finn Juhl, and began his career creating furniture pieces for Fritz Hansen, France & Son and Sibast. For the latter firm he created an extensive line of furniture that earned him worldwide recognition and success. His beautiful designs are exquisite in their detail and sober in their expression, and almost without exception are constructed of natural materials.
