DESCRIPTION
Large brutalist cabinet, ca.1960's.
Solid wood, with excellent oak finishes.
Unique and rare piece.
Measurements: 85 x 225 x 44.5 cm.
This large cabinet or sideboard of mid-20th century modern design stands out for the clarity of its lines, the balance of its proportions and the honesty in the use of the material, features that refer both to European modernism and to clear Scandinavian influences. Made of solid wood with an oak finish, it has a marked and carefully selected natural grain, which provides visual depth and underlines the high quality of the material.
The front is organized in a rational way by means of drawers and hinged doors, resolved with discreet and functional brass fittings, which provide a subtle chromatic contrast. The continuity of the veining on the different panels is evidence of a craftsmanship that is attentive to detail and reinforces the sense of formal unity of the whole. The elevated structure on stylized legs introduces visual lightness and responds to a concept of furniture where form follows function, an essential principle of Nordic design.
Due to its generous dimensions, the cabinet transcends its storage function to become a protagonist piece, capable of defining the character of a living room, office or representative space. It is a unique and unusual piece, fully aligned with a timeless taste for well-constructed, sober and elegant design.
