This modular bench by Barovero Mobili Torino brilliantly represents the Italian design ambition of the 1960s, when Turin established itself as a laboratory of modernity and refined production. Linked to the Selex series, its segmented slatted structure gives the whole an almost sculptural rhythm, combining architectural rigor and comfort.
The piece is also distinguished by the integrated teak auxiliary module, conceived as a functional extension of the seat and emblem of Italian Modern: a piece of furniture designed not only to sit on, but also to articulate the space. The original upholstery in black skay and the leather straps provide a sober and sophisticated contrast to the richness of the wood.
Today, works like this are especially prized by collectors for their bold, geometric and distinctly Italian character, a perfect alternative to the more conventional Scandinavian Mid-Century.
