DESCRIPTION
FEDERICO CORREA (1924-2020) & ALFONSO MILÁ (1924-2009) for Gres.
Reno dining table, 1961.
In ukola wood.
Measurements: 73 x 120 x 120 cm.
Designed in 1961 by Federico Correa and Alfonso Milá for the firm Gres, the Reno dining table was originally conceived for the restaurant of the same name, located in the emblematic Tuset street in Barcelona, epicenter of the cultural and architectural modernity of the city in the sixties.
Made of ukola wood, this piece reflects the desire of its authors to reformulate the traditional typologies of luxury furniture from a contemporary perspective, combining emphatic proportions, formal purification and a careful sculptural presence.
Produced and subsequently distributed by Gres, the Reno series has established itself as one of the most representative sets of Spanish design of the mid-20th century, appreciated for its timeless elegance and impeccable construction quality.
The tandem of Catalan architects and designers Federico Correa and Alfonso Milá were outstanding references of the Modern Movement. Correa and Milá followed the slogan that interior and industrial design were part of the same architectural project. Collaborators of José Antonio Coderch, they founded their own studio in 1953. Architecture of summer houses in Cadaqués, interior design for the legendary restaurants FlashFlash or Il Giardinetto and singular and iconic design pieces to equip their own works and for furniture companies such as Gres.
