This pair of "Groovy" armchairs - also known as model "M" (F598) - designed by Pierre Paulin for Artifort, represents one of the most iconic and sensual expressions of late 20th century organic design. Conceived in the 1980s, these pieces perfectly embody Paulin's fluid and futuristic language, where the seat becomes a continuous, enveloping and almost sculptural form.

Its low, undulating silhouette, designed to offer exceptional comfort, reflects the designer's obsession with ergonomics and with transforming furniture into a bodily experience. Pierre Paulin, famous for his visionary interiors and his designs for the French cultural elite, was able to create with the Groovy series a timeless model, as contemporary today as at the time of its creation.

Pierre Paulin is one of the key figures of 20th century French design, especially recognized for his innovative creations of the 1960s and 1970s. In 1956 he joined Artifort, a firm with which he developed his most iconic and personal models, characterized by organic shapes and great attention to ergonomics.

In the late 1960s he collaborated with Le Mobilier National, participating in prestigious projects such as the renovation of the Louvre and the French presidential interiors. His designs - such as the "Mushroom", the "Ribbon" or the "Butterfly" - have become classics of contemporary furniture and today form part of international collections such as the MoMA in New York or the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
