BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

JORDI VILANOVA I BOSCH (Barcelona, 1925-1998).
Large table lamp, early 60's.
Solid brass body.
Methacrylate lampshades.
All original elements in perfect condition, including cable and switch.
Measurements: 56 x 40 x 42 cm.

Great sculptural table lamp, made in the early 60's for a mansion in Barcelona. Exceptional model and very rare to see, produced in a very small number of copies.

It has an imposing central body of solid brass from which emerge four curved arms in candelabra style, topped by cylindrical white methacrylate lampshades that provide a soft and enveloping light.

Jordi Vilanova was one of the most outstanding figures of Catalan design in the mid-20th century. He trained in the Busquets workshop, later collaborating with Lluís Gili. He won the Delta de Plata Award (ADI/FAD, 1964) for the Delta stool. His work is represented in the Museu del Disseny de Barcelona, and among his most renowned designs are the Tiracord and Billar chairs, as well as the Tartera and Petit rocking chairs.
