This large sculpture, made of glazed stoneware, is an outstanding work of cubist design applied to ceramics. It was created by the renowned Danish designer Jørgen Mogensen in 1954 for the prestigious manufacture Royal Copenhagen. The figure represents a nude woman, and stands out for its simplified and elegant geometry, with a glaze in blue, gray and light gray tones that enhance its volume and abstraction.
Jørgen Mogensen was a leading figure in 20th century Danish design, known for combining classical influences with modernity, experimenting in different materials and styles. His work for Royal Copenhagen reflects his ability to integrate sculpture and ceramics with a contemporary language, especially cubism, which was highly appreciated in the artistic context of the time.
Officially called Royal Porcelain Factory (Den Kongelige Porcelænsfabrik), it was founded in Copenhagen in 1775 under the protection of Queen Juliane Marie. Since then, it has been synonymous with quality and refined design in porcelain and ceramics, collaborating with leading artists and designers who have taken the Danish tradition to an international level.
