The MM bookcase was conceived in 1962 to furnish an apartment as part of an affordable furniture contest in collaboration with Gres. Its ingenious system combines leather straps, slatted supports and wooden shelves, creating a modular piece of furniture adaptable to different heights, widths and lengths. The lightness, simplicity and sobriety that emanate from this shelf reflect the essence of Milá's work.
Miguel Milá began his studies at the School of Architecture, although he soon abandoned them to work in the office of Federico Correa and Alfonso Milà. In 1958 he opened his own studio, establishing himself as a central figure in the birth of Spanish industrial design in the 1960s. Throughout his long career he has been recognized with multiple awards, including six ADI FAD Gold Delta awards, the first in 1961 for the emblematic "TMC" lamp. He also received the National Design Award in 1987, the Sant Jordi Cross in 1993 and the CoNCA National Culture Award in 2010.
