DESCRIPTION
RENATO ZEVI (Italy, 1921- 1999) for Selig
Rocking armchair "Ellipse".
Chrome and reupholstered in "Chenille Igor" cotton by Pierre Frey.
In very good condition.
Measurements: 83 x 71 x 110 cm.
Defined by its elliptical bases and its slight inclination, almost weightless, this rocking chair stands out for its floating and harmonious presence. The continuous steel curves not only give it visual lightness, but also ensure the rocking chair's functionality.
At the beginning of his career, Renato Zevi worked as an architect, but soon turned his talents to industrial design. In 1983 he founded his own studio, quickly establishing himself through his innovative and creative approach. His work ranges from furniture to lighting, kitchen accessories and objects for the home, always with a distinctively modern and refined stamp.
Zevi is especially recognized for his collaborations with leading Italian companies such as Flos, Artemide, Alessi and Driade. Throughout his career he has received numerous awards, including the Compasso d'Oro in 1987 for his "Conica" lamp for Nemo and in 2001 for his "Tabouret" for Driade.
His work is exhibited in museums and galleries around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Centre Pompidou. In addition, Zevi conveyed his vision as a lecturer in industrial design at La Sapienza University in Rome and participated in international conferences, leaving a lasting mark on the history of contemporary Italian design.
