DESCRIPTION
Floor lamp; MAISON JANSEN, c. 1960.
Brass.
In working order.
Measurements: 100 x 50 x 70 cm.
Executed in brass, the piece adopts a sculptural composition of vegetal inspiration: an ascending stem from which stylized leaves sprout at different levels, generating a rhythmic play of volumes and golden reflections. The vertical structure, set on a sober and solid cubic base, balances the organic exuberance of the upper body, producing a harmonious tension between geometric containment and ornamental dynamism.
With a proven track record, Maison Jansen has decorated the residences of such important personalities as the Kennedys, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Coco Chanel and the March family. Founded in 1880 by Dutch designer Jean-Henri Jansen (1854-1928), its aesthetics were based on French furniture combined with aesthetic influences from around the world. His most sought-after pieces reflected the influence of antique designs from the Louis XIV, Louis XVI, Directory and Empire eras, as well as objects Jansen encountered during his travels to Japan and Turkey.
