DESCRIPTION

CHRISTIAN TECHOUEYRES (France, 1944) for MAISON JANSEN.
Pair of lamps, 1970s.
Gilded brass.
In very good general condition according to their age. They retain original patina and show slight signs of use typical of the passage of time.
Measurements: 105 x 50 x 30 cm (each one).

Spectacular pair of sculptural lamps that embodies the theatrical luxury characteristic of the French decoration of the seventies. Designed by Christian Techoueyres for the prestigious Maison Jansen, these pieces represent one of the most recognizable languages of the international decorative design of the time.

The composition takes the form of a stylized palm tree, with a textured cylindrical trunk and a top that unfolds in cut-out leaves that filter the light, generating a warm and enveloping effect. The work of golden brass, with different planes and volumes, produces vibrant reflections that intensify its scenographic presence.

Formally, these lamps are in keeping with the "Hollywood Regency" taste and the exotic revival that dominated high-end interiors in the 1970s, where the natural was reinterpreted in a sophisticated key. Their scale makes them true architectural elements, capable of visually structuring a space.

Christian Techoueyres worked closely with Maison Jansen, a historic decoration firm founded in the 19th century and responsible for some of the most exclusive interiors of the 20th century. The pieces produced under his orbit in the seventies are today especially valued in the international decorative design market, where the taste for sculptural brass and organic forms has experienced a remarkable revaluation.

Complete pairs in this format and condition are increasingly rare, especially in monumental dimensions such as the present ones.
