BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

JAUME TRESSERRA CLAPÉS (Barcelona, 1943).
Armchair and footrest "Lola".2013.
Walnut wood and cowhide leather.
Stainless steel hardware.
Measurements: 76 x 100 x 87 cm (armchair); 37 x 62 x 45 cm (stool).

The set of armchair and footrest "Lola" synthesizes the formal and constructive research characteristic of Jaume Tresserra, where structure, material and technical detail are integrated with architectural precision. The design combines rounded volumes in walnut wood with continuous surfaces of stretched cowhide leather, generating a balance between geometric rigor and material sensuality.

The walnut sides, with their curved profile and solid section, define its sculptural presence. The skin, carefully assembled and fastened with visible stainless steel hardware, emphasizes the constructive honesty and technical character of the piece. The exposed metal elements underline the contemporary language of the design.

A design of great formal solidity, where the nobility of the walnut and the quality of the leather dialogue with a precise and refined construction.

Jaume Tresserra is a leading figure in contemporary Spanish design. He began his projection in 1987 when he presented his first collection at the Valencia International Furniture Fair, where he won the Award for Best Modern Furniture Design. Since then, his pieces have been exhibited at international fairs such as Milan and Cologne and received several awards, including the ID International Design Magazine Award and the International Design Review Award in New York.

In 1994 he founded the Tresserra Collection, a firm dedicated to the exclusive production of his designs, consolidating his international presence. His work is now considered a benchmark of Spanish design in the late 20th century.
