Standing mirror model "Unghia", Italy, 1970s.
Structure in molded plastic material.
Good general condition, with slight signs of use commensurate with age.
Measurements: 160 x 25 x 25 cm.
The design of this mirror fully reflects the aesthetics of the Italian Space Age, where the new technologies of molded plastic allowed the development of fluid volumes and organic forms of great modernity. The ascending and continuous shape of the body, topped by the diagonally arranged mirror, generates a dynamic and sculptural silhouette.
Rodolfo Bonetto was one of the protagonists of post-war Italian industrial design. In 1958 he founded his own studio in Milan, from which he developed projects for numerous sectors of industrial production, from electronics and household appliances to furniture, lighting and automotive design.
Throughout his career he collaborated with companies such as Olivetti, Brionvega, Artemide and Fiat. He was the recipient of eight Compasso d'Oro awards, the most prestigious recognition in Italian design, and some of his products are part of international museum collections, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
