ANDRIES VAN ONCK (Amsterdam, 1928-2024) for Magis
Pair of "Cricket" chairs. Italy, ca.1980
Plastic and metal.
Signed on the back: "Cricket - Inpress per Magis - Made in Italy - Design: Andries Van Onck".

Measurements: 82 x 45 x 40 cm.
The "Cricket" model stands out for its practical conception and folding structure, combining industrial materials with a simple and modern formal language, typical of the European design of the 1980s.
Andries Van Onck studied industrial design in Holland and completed his training at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Ulm. From 1959 he lived in Italy where he collaborated with Ettore Sottsass Jr. on the design of Olivetti's first electronic machines.
In 1965, he founded his design studio in Milan (Gavirate) where, with his wife, Hiroko Takeda, he developed numerous designs for Italian and foreign companies, for which they received numerous awards: household appliances for Zanussi and Bertazzoni, cutlery for Serafino Zani and furnishing accessories for Magis and other prestigious firms.
