DESCRIPTION

FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT (Wisconsin, U.S.A., 1867 - Phoenix, U.S.A., 1959).
Set of four chairs Model "Midway Gardens". 1986.
Original design of 1914. Reissue by Cassina, 1986.

Measurements: 88 x 40 x 40 cm (each).

This set of four chairs, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1914 for the famous Midway Gardens in Chicago and reissued by Cassina as part of the I Maestri collection, is an icon of modern design linked to architecture.

The light, geometric metal structure translates Wright's architectural language into furniture, with the circular backrest, a distinctive motif of the original project, playing a leading role. The composition, based on straight lines and repetitive rhythms, generates a piece with a strong graphic and sculptural character.

The recent upholstery in Pierre Frey fabric, in a soft tone, brings comfort and updates the piece without altering its essence, in dialogue with the sobriety of the steel.

Highly representative of Wright's ideology, this set combines historical value, design and functionality, and it is also rare to find it complete.

Works and designs by Frank Lloyd Wright are kept in important international museums, such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Art Institute of Chicago.
