The sobriety of the lines, combined with the warmth of the material, places this piece of furniture within an aesthetic that dialogues with the Nordic design and the Mediterranean tradition, very present in the Catalan context of the time. The metal ring handles and the absence of superfluous ornamentation reinforce its functionalist character, while the quality of the proportions is evidence of a careful study of the whole.

The door fronts, decorated with a characteristic geometric motif in wood assemblage, reveal the designer's interest in craftsmanship and manual work, distinctive features of Jordi Vilanova's production.

Vilanova is renowned for his mastery of woodworking and his contemporary reinterpretation of Mediterranean tradition.

He trained in Busquets' workshop, later collaborating with Lluís Gili. He was awarded the Delta de Plata Prize (ADI/FAD, 1964) for the Delta stool. His work is represented in the Museu del Disseny de Barcelona, and among his most renowned designs are the Tiracord and Billar chairs, as well as the Tartera and Petit rocking chairs.
