Designed in the 1960s, the Jangada Lounge Chair is one of the most emblematic pieces of modern Brazilian design. Inspired by the traditional boats of northeastern Brazil-the "jangadas"-its structure combines solid wood with a system of taut ropes that support generous leather cushions, creating a seat of great comfort and strong visual identity.
Jean Gillon, a Romanian-born designer based in Brazil, developed a work deeply linked to local materials and traditions, integrating modernity and craftsmanship. He was awarded the Movesp prize in 1991, and the following year he was named Professional of the Year by the Brazilian Association of Interior Architects and Decorators. He also participated in the São Paulo Biennial in 1963, and his designs were part of the exhibition "Cadeiras brasileiras", held at the Museu da Casa Brasileira in 1995.
