DESCRIPTION
RAOUL GUYS (Paris, 1904- Nice, 1988).
Pair of chairs, France, 1950's.
Thick leather and metal
In good condition, with visible patina commensurate with age and use.
Measurements: 85 x 56 x 54 cm.
Pair of chairs designed by Raoul Guys in the 1950s, characterized by their sober aesthetics and honest construction. The structure in metal rod, with light and continuous lines, supports a seat and backrest made in a single piece of thick molded leather, which adapts to the body with use.
The design stands out for its balance between structural rigor and comfort, as well as for the prominence of the material, whose natural patina lends character and uniqueness to each piece. The combination of leather and metal responds to a functionalist logic, typical of post-war French design, where constructive simplicity becomes an aesthetic value.
