DESCRIPTION
JORDI VILANOVA i BOSCH (Barcelona, 1925-1998).
Set of 4 chairs model "Olot", production of the 70s.
Solid wood.
Restored, ready to use, respecting the original essence of the design.
Measurements: 115 x 44 x 47cm.
Executed in solid wood, these pieces stand out for the purity of their lines and for an honest construction that values raw materials and craftsmanship.
The design is recognized by its high and gently curved backrest, resolved by assembled elements of oval geometry that bring visual rhythm and lightness to the whole. On this occasion, it is an unusual version with a bulrush seat, which reinforces its traditional character and its connection with Mediterranean craftsmanship, as well as adding texture and warmth to the ensemble.
These chairs clearly reflect Jordi Vilanova i Bosch's philosophy, based on reinterpreting tradition from a modern, refined and functional language. His work, influenced by Nordic design, opted for light wood, essential forms and limited series production, consolidating a refined and timeless Mediterranean aesthetic.
A set that is increasingly difficult to find in groups -and especially in this configuration-, which increases its interest both for collectors and for interior design projects that seek pieces with identity and historical value.
Vilanova is renowned for his mastery of woodworking and his contemporary reinterpretation of Mediterranean tradition. He trained in the Busquets workshop, later collaborating with Lluís Gili. He was awarded the Delta de Plata Prize (ADI/FAD, 1964) for the Delta stool. His work is represented in the Museu del Disseny de Barcelona, and among his most renowned designs are the Tiracord and Billar chairs, as well as the Tartera and Petit rocking chairs.
