DESCRIPTION
JAUME TRESSERRA CLAPÉS (Barcelona, 1943).
Coffee table Model "Calibre".1987
Walnut wood, nickel hardware.
Acid-etched glass top of 19 mm.
Measurements: 35 x 110 x 110 cm.
Coffee table of great formal purity that reflects the precise and technical language of Jaume Tresserra. The walnut structure, with sober lines and balanced proportions, acts as a support for the thick acid-etched glass top, whose satin finish lends an almost ethereal quality to the whole. The nickel hardware, visible and rhythmically repeated, introduces an industrial accent that dialogues with the warmth of the wood.
Jaume Tresserra is a leading figure in contemporary Spanish design. He began his projection in 1987 when he presented his first collection at the Valencia International Furniture Fair, where he won the Award for Best Modern Furniture Design. Since then, his pieces have been exhibited at international fairs such as Milan and Cologne and received several awards, including the ID International Design Magazine Award and the International Design Review Award in New York.
In 1994 he founded the Tresserra Collection, a firm dedicated to the exclusive production of his designs, consolidating his international presence. His work is now considered a benchmark of Spanish design in the late 20th century.
