This coffee table designed by Nanna Ditzel and manufactured by Silkeborg circa 1960 is a refined example of mid-20th century modern Scandinavian design. Made of warm brown tropical wood, the piece stands out for its understated elegance and careful material quality, fundamental characteristics of Nordic furniture of the period.
Nanna Ditzel was one of the most outstanding Danish designers of the 20th century. Trained as a cabinetmaker and at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, she developed an extensive career in furniture, textiles and industrial design, experimenting with new materials such as fiberglass, wicker or foam. Throughout his career he received numerous international awards and created iconic designs, including the "Hallingdal" textile for Kvadrat. His collaboration with Fredericia cemented his legacy in contemporary Scandinavian design.
