Designed in the 1960s, the Ribbon Chair is one of the most iconic pieces of Pierre Paulin and European organic design. Its continuous form, conceived as a folded ribbon, integrates seat, backrest and armrests in a single sculptural gesture, combining technical innovation and great comfort thanks to its metal structure covered in foam and elastic fabric.

Published by Artifort, a key firm in modern design, this armchair stands out both for its visual presence and its historical relevance. Its appearance in the Star Trek series cemented its iconic character, while its inclusion in collections such as the National Gallery of Victoria underscores its value in 20th century design.

Pierre Paulin, an essential figure of post-war French design, developed much of his career with Artifort, where he experimented with new materials and organic forms. Author of iconic models such as the Mushroom or the Tongue Chair, he also collaborated with institutions such as the Mobilier National, participating in projects for the Elysée and the Louvre. His work is now part of collections such as the MoMA in New York and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
