20th century French tables

Pair of side tables in bronze, signed Delplace. France, late twentieth century.
Cast bronze and glass.
In excellent condition.
Measurements: 75 x 44 x 44 cm.

This pair of side tables, made in cast bronze with a warm golden patina, are conceived as delicate stylized trees whose organic branches unfold naturally, dotted with subtle leaf details. From their tripod bases, with a suggestive zoomorphic character, they emerge lightly holding circular glass envelopes that seem to float above the whole.

The composition clearly refers to a naturalistic and deeply artisanal language, close to the productions in the wake of Diego Giacometti, where functionality merges with a fully sculptural conception of the object. The result are pieces of great decorative force, inscribed in the French tradition of artistic bronze furniture of the late twentieth century.
