Set of four chairs designed by Hermanos Vidal for Ferrocolor in the fifties, representative of the renovation of post-war Spanish furniture and the incorporation of light metal structures to modern domestic design.
The pieces have a black lacquered iron structure, formed by rods of great visual lightness, with original upholstery. The backrest, wide and slightly enveloping, adds sculptural presence to the ensemble, while the metal base introduces a functional, sober and fully modern interpretation.
Its structure recalls a model long attributed to Antoni de Moragas, which allows us to situate these chairs within the context of formal and technical experimentation in Catalan and Spanish design in the mid-20th century.
Hermanos Vidal, also known as Vidal Hermanos or Ferrocolor-Vidal Hermanos, was a Catalan family firm linked to ironwork and modern furniture, founded in Barcelona in 1915 by Antoni Vidal Dinè. Also known as "Tres Uves", it developed during the central decades of the 20th century a production characterized by structural lightness, functionality and the adaptation of modern language to the Spanish domestic environment.
