BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

Sideboard following the style of RAFAEL GARCÍA NICOLAU, 70s.
Carved oak wood.
It retains its original key, although the lock requires revision.
Measurements: 90 x 190 x 40 cm.

The bidding sideboard follows the style of the renowned Spanish designer Rafael Garcia. The piece stands on four stylized sable legs and presents an elegant top with satin varnished finish, which enhances the warmth and natural richness of the wood.

The uniqueness of this piece of furniture lies in the magnificent craftsmanship of its front, composed of four hand-carved panels in natural oak. The composition represents an exuberant landscape of naturalist inspiration, where fauna and vegetation coexist in perfect harmony. Deer, squirrels and peacocks are integrated among lush foliage, palm trees and a spectacular mountain backdrop, creating a scene of great decorative and narrative strength. The storage space is organized in two sections with double doors. The interior has a dividing shelf and an equally satin finish, maintaining the aesthetic coherence and quality of execution of the entire piece.

This work reflects a conception of furniture understood as an integration between art, design and architecture, capable of bringing personality and character to any interior. Its sculptural and organic aesthetic favors the creation of sophisticated environments with their own identity.

Rafael García Nicolau (1914-2007), father of the architect Álvaro García Luján and Medal of Honor of the Official College of Architects of Madrid in 1996, was a key figure in Spanish design and interior design during the second half of the 20th century. His career ranged from the design and manufacture of furniture to the dissemination of the principles of the Modern Movement in Spain. He evolved from the tradition of Valencian furniture to a contemporary and personal language, becoming a national design reference. Among his most outstanding projects are the decoration of the Gran Vía cinemas, the Los Sótanos shopping center or the emblematic Pasapoga, as well as various works developed in Morocco, the United States and Latin America.
