The "Mir" meditation stool, designed by Erik Balavoine circa 1990 and produced by Hove Møbler in Stordal, Norway, is notable for its sculptural and functional design. Its detachable structure combines laminated beech and wenge, articulating two curved pieces that intersect with great precision and generate a light, balanced silhouette with a strong formal presence.
The piece was recognized in 1991 with the Merke for God Design award from the Norwegian Design Council, underlining its interest in contemporary Scandinavian design. Conceived to favor a stable posture during meditation, the stool combines ergonomics, constructive simplicity and a refined contrast of woods, becoming both an object of use and a small sculptural piece.
