Set of ten chairs made by David Marshall, British sculptor and designer based in Spain. The pieces combine a light brass structure with high backrests of worked aluminum, hammered surface and rounded silhouette, generating a powerful and very recognizable visual presence within the brutalist design.
The contrast between the irregular shine of the aluminum, the golden accents of the brass and the sobriety of the upholstered seats gives the whole a singular elegance, halfway between functional furniture and domestic sculpture. The backrests, with an almost ceremonial profile, turn each chair into an object with a strong plastic character, where the manual imprint of the metal acquires prominence.
Trained in technical studies and in working with non-ferrous metals, David Marshall developed in Benahavís, Málaga, a very recognizable production in aluminum, brass and bronze, halfway between sculpture, furniture and decorative objects. Inspired by the natural landscape of southern Spain, his work is characterized by textured surfaces, manual finishes and a marked brutalist presence. Since the 1970s, his metal pieces have become collector's items in Spanish signature design.
