Desk designed by Japanese architect and designer Kazuhide Takahama for MYC-Gavina. This is a rare model, which combines a structure of great visual lightness with a careful selection of materials.

The piece features a large top with a champagne-colored laminate finish, framed by oak wood, and incorporates three drawers integrated under the work surface. The trestle-shaped bases create an elegant contrast between the warmth of wood and the industrial precision of metal.

The design responds to Takahama's characteristic formal refinement, marked by geometric sobriety, functionality and refined attention to proportions. The Cavalletto desk exemplifies the dialogue between Japanese construction tradition and Italian design in a piece with clean lines, monumental presence and great versatility of use.

Trained in architecture in Tokyo, Kazuhide Takahama moved to Italy in the late 1950s, where he began a close collaboration with Dino Gavina. From then on he developed an outstanding career in furniture and lighting design for firms such as Gavina, Simon, B&B Italia, Sirrah and Cassina.

His work is characterized by a synthesis of Japanese sensibility, structural clarity and the formal elegance of Italian design. Among his most recognized pieces are the Tulu chair, the Kumo lamp and various pieces of furniture with essential lines. His designs are part of important collections dedicated to modern design and continue to be valued for their balance between rigor, functionality and material refinement.
