DESCRIPTION
Armchair; 60's.
Upholstered in blue fabric.
Measurements: 80 x 60 x 60 x 60 cm; 40 x 50 x 50 x 50 cm (seat); 60 cm (armrest height).
This armchair is an example of modern design with an aesthetic typical of the 1960s, a period marked by the search for new formal solutions that combine comfort, functionality and contemporary style. Its structure of refined lines is complemented by a generous blue fabric upholstery, a resource that provides visual depth and a refined decorative character without sacrificing the sobriety of the design of the period.
The piece stands out for the balance between the softness of its volumes and the lightness of its tubular metal structure. The open armrests, the slightly inclined backrest and the wide seat respond to ergonomic criteria that reflect the growing attention paid to domestic comfort during the 1960s. At the same time, the slender metal legs introduce an interesting contrast between the textile warmth and industrial rationality characteristic of modern design.
The capitonné, reinterpreted here from a contemporary perspective, updates a traditional technique associated with classic furniture and integrates it into a lighter and more functional formal language. This combination of tradition and modernity was one of the hallmarks of post-war European furniture, especially in the fields of Scandinavian, Italian and Central European design.
