DESCRIPTION
JORDI VILANOVA (Barcelona, 1925-1998).
Pair of "TER" armchairs, 60s.
Wooden structure. Ochre-yellow upholstery.
Measurements: 80 x 44 x 40 cm.
Sophisticated pair of TER armchairs, designed by Jordi Vilanova i Bosch in the 1960s, representative of an elegant and restrained vision of Spanish design in the mid-twentieth century.
The wooden structures stand out for the purity of their lines and the quality of their proportions, while the upholstered cushions in ochre-yellow provide warmth and a refined contrast with the brown of the wood.
The TER model synthesizes Art Deco influences from a modern and balanced point of view, where comfort, sobriety and construction details are naturally integrated. The TER series represents one of Vilanova's most elegant approaches to domestic furniture, where traditional craftsmanship and modernity coexist with absolute naturalness. An increasingly scarce set on the market, especially attractive for collectors and high-end interior design projects that seek to incorporate historic Spanish design with identity and character.
Vilanova is renowned for his mastery of woodworking and his contemporary reinterpretation of Mediterranean tradition. He trained in the Busquets workshop, later collaborating with Lluís Gili. He was awarded the Delta de Plata Prize (ADI/FAD, 1964) for the Delta stool. His work is represented in the Museu del Disseny de Barcelona, and among his most renowned designs are the Tiracord and Billar chairs, as well as the Tartera and Petit rocking chairs.
