Cabinet designed by Antoine Philippon and Jacqueline Lecoq for Jules Degorre around 1960. Made of rosewood and lacquered metal, it stands out for the visual richness of its natural grain and the sober geometry of its structure, which reflects the ideals of European modernism of the mid-twentieth century. The composition of the furniture is characterized by an impeccable balance between straight lines and carefully studied proportions.
Antoine Philippon and Jacqueline Lecoq formed one of the most outstanding creative partnerships in French design in the second half of the 20th century. After meeting in Marcel Gascoin's studio, they founded their own workshop in 1956 and developed a body of work deeply influenced by the principles of the Union des Artistes Modernes (UAM), a movement that advocated rational, accessible design adapted to the needs of contemporary life. His creations are characterized by structural clarity, the absence of superfluous elements and a special attention to the quality of the materials, and his collaboration with Jules Degorre made it possible to materialize these ideas in pieces of furniture of great elegance and constructive excellence.
Today, the furniture conceived by Philippon and Lecoq is considered a benchmark of modern French design and enjoys a growing appreciation among collectors and specialists. This cabinet brings together all the qualities that made the couple famous: formal rigor, functionality, exceptional materials and timeless design.
