DESCRIPTION
Art Deco-style chest of drawers. 20th century.
Elm burl veneer and ebonized wood.
Main body with eight drawers arranged in two vertical rows and a bottom drawer integrated into the base. Ebonized wood handles.
Measurements: 107 x 120 x 48 cm.
The design departs from the traditional chest of drawers with its compact, stepped structure, featuring the drawer unit raised above a wide trapezoidal base. The hallmarks of the elm burl—with its highly expressive grain—and the black profiles and handles are the visual effect that directly evokes the Art Deco taste for juxtaposing light and dark woods.
Particularly distinctive are the horizontal handles with a tapered profile, which run along the front like small sculptural elements and accentuate its rhythm. The ebonized upper and lower moldings frame the piece, while the central strip of light wood organizes the two columns of drawers and reinforces the piece’s monumental presence.
